Britt Unkefer
Founder, Husband, & Chef
Britt is the brains of the operation. With over 40 years of experience working in restaurants as a chef and collaborated with well-known culinary experts around the world, he brings it all back to Boulder Junction, where he vacationed as a family growing up. After owning and operating seven restaurants of his own in Door County, Britt and his family are happy to come to Boulder Junction to make a historic establishment into something of their own.
Liz Unkefer
Partner, Wife, & so much more
Liz is the imaginator and the behind-the-scenes creator. Liz started working in restaurants with her brother and sister at a young age that sparked her interest in the industry. After working and graduating from college in New York and overseeing construction projects throughout Manhattan, Liz found herself still wanting to be in the hospitality industry. She knew it was meant to be when she met Britt working in his restaurant. Liz always had supporting family and friends that inspired her restaurant career!
Our Next Generation
The reason we do it all, Our Kids!
When you come in, you might find our kids showing you to your seat, cleaning your table, and washing dishes in the back. Our bigger kids might be behind the line in the kitchen or working behind the scenes giving all their moral support while expanding their own culinary dreams. Don’t be surprised if you see “Grandma” helping out either. We are making a beautiful legacy for them to be proud of and carry on if they so choose.
As you come in to see our new look, new menu, and feel a new vibe, you will notice the changes are greatly influenced by our family and dearest friends that have continued to support us. There will be loving stories in the decor and vibe that are worth asking about, as well as enjoying the new food and drink menu with an everlasting riverside view that will never change.
Britt and Liz explored areas around the world before coming back to a place they all called home earlier in life. Bringing a shared passion back to the Northwoods was unexpected but serendipitous as the beautiful property became the undeniable catalyst for realizing a family legacy. After two years, it was time to make it our own, creating a memorable and enjoyable concept to share. While many may miss what it was, more show excitement and support of the changes with us. We look forward to welcoming those that embrace the new changes with us as our legacy only has a taste for positivity.
